My name is Jóna Dögg Sveinbjörnsdóttir and I’m an Icelandic multimedia designer / web designer currently working at Hugsmiðjan. I live in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland with my dearest boyfriend Valur and the cat Indy.
The whole story
I was born and raised in sub burp of Reykjavik, and spent my teenage years practicing swimming and studying arts and crafts in FG, Comprehensive collage of Garðabær, where I graduated in 1999. Soon after graduation I moved to Madrid in Spain and worked as an Au Pair for about 5 months.
After I arrived back home I registered at Technical collage of Hafnarfjörður, in art design courses. I took only one semester there and then started working full time in a butcher store. Fall 2002 I started my education at the Multimedia Academy in Iceland. I had finally found something that really interested me. But around this time I was buying my first apartment so staying in school and working a 60% job to be able to pay all the bills was getting pretty hard. So in August 2004 I decided to move to Denmark to keep on studying multimedia at the Nordic Multimedia Academy.
Over there I could concentrate on my studies and meet new people and just enjoy life. On the last semester in school we had to get an internship and I got mine in San Francisco at a video production company called Media Posse and other one called Elastic Creative, but they specialize in motion graphics. I spent 3 amazing months in California, doing some motion graphics and traveling.
After 2 wonderful years I graduated with a Diploma in Visual Communication and Design and moved back to Iceland.
My first job in the field was at D3, a leading entertainment content provider for digital media in Iceland. At D3 I was responsible for a variety of design tasks. Majority was all advertisement concerning Plúsinn, an interactive advertising media through emails. But I also produced a lot of flash ads and newspaper ads.
I now work as a web designer at Hugsmiðjan, a company that specializes in rich and accessible web design and development. I’ve been working there for almost 2 years now and I love every minute of it. It’s always pleasant to be able to say “I love what I do” and hopefully my work presents that.
Interests
I love traveling and visiting new places. I also love working out at the gym and relaxing after wards in the sauna, then going home and mixing some exotic food and watch some TV shows. I actually prefer watching TV shows rather then movies (although I of course do both), cause of the depth of the story and characters. And then of course I love animals and especially my cute cat Indy.

Daggardropi.is is designed by me in 2008/2009 and coded by my boyfriend Valur using xHTML, CSS, javascript and jQuery. I also have some experience in coding so some finalization is done by me. I’m using WordPress as a content management system.
